French vines making Virginian wines

Sweely Estate Winery sits at the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison, Virginia. The vineyard began in 2004, just after the historic Weaver farm was purchased by the Sweely Family.

The family had a vision for the property: plant imported French vines; make world-class wine; share their passions for great food, wine and art in an old-world styled hospitality center; provide guests with educational opportunities in these areas; and last, but clearly not least, create an elegant event facility with outdoor areas and breathtaking views.

The Sweely Family is already renowned for their Acorn Hill Farm, an equestrian center run by one of the Sweely daughters, with a full-service breeding and training facility. Now, Sweely Estate Winery affords yet another opportunity to continue the family's commitment to being good stewards of the land of Madison County.

The equestrian connection is reflected in the winery logo and in select equestrian-related gift items, found in the on-site boutique. In the future, wine and equestrian enthusiasts will be able to enjoy both passions when equestrian events are hosted.
